iLON and Astrid

In 1953 I applied for a job at the publishers Rabén & Sjögren. There I met Astrid for the first time. I showed her my drawings and asked for a job of any kind as long as I was allowed to draw.  Astrid had just finished writing Mio, my Son and she gave me a couple of chapters to illustrate. Happily I went home and made my illustrations- and I got the job! That was the first book I illustrated for Astrid Lindgren. After that I have never been without a job.

I have illustrated many of Astrid Lindgren´s books, for example The Six Bullerby Children, The Children of Noisy Village, The Brothers Lionheart, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, Mardie, Mio my Son, Ronia the Robber´s Daughter, The Ghost of Skinny Jack, Seacrow Island. I also illustrated many picture books like The Dragoon with the Red Eyes, Lotta on the Troublemaker Street, Nils-Karlsson Pyssling, Most beloved Sister…
